Provider: TidyWrite, operated by its individual developer ("TidyWrite", "we", "us"), based in Brazil.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using TidyWrite (the browser extension, the macOS app, or our website), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

TidyWrite is a writing assistant for English that provides spelling and grammar checking (performed locally on your device) and AI-powered features — rewriting, tone adjustment, and paraphrasing — that process text through our AI provider. Features, limits, and availability may change over time.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide a valid email and keep your credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to form a binding contract.
  • One person or entity per account unless we agree otherwise.

4. Trial, subscriptions, and billing

  • Free trial. We offer a 7-day free trial. A valid payment method is required to start it. You will not be charged during the trial.
  • Automatic conversion. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription (monthly or annual, as selected) and your payment method is charged. We send a reminder email to your account address before the trial converts.
  • Renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled.
  • Cancellation. You may cancel at any time via the billing portal; access continues until the end of the current paid period, and no further charges are made.
  • Payments. Billing is handled by a third-party payment processor. Prices are shown at checkout and may change with notice for future periods; a price change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
  • Refunds. The 7-day free trial is your evaluation period — cancel before it ends and you are never charged. If you forget to cancel, we will refund the first charge after trial conversion on request within 14 days of that charge. This also honors the EU/UK 14-day right of withdrawal: by starting the service immediately you consent to immediate performance, and if you withdraw within 14 days of the first charge we refund it in full. Renewal charges are non-refundable except where required by the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence — cancel instead, and your access runs to the end of the paid period. To request a refund, email opedrovmc@gmail.com.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service unlawfully or to process content that is illegal, infringing, or abusive.
  • Attempt to bypass usage limits, security, authentication, or billing.
  • Reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the service except as permitted by applicable open-source licenses (see §9).
  • Overload or disrupt the service (e.g. automated bulk requests outside normal use).

6. Your content

You retain all rights to the text you submit. You grant us a limited license to process that text solely to provide the features you request (for example, sending it to our AI provider to generate a rewrite). We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it to train models. See the Privacy Policy for how text is handled.

7. AI output — no guarantee

AI features are provided "as is." Their output is generated by artificial intelligence and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose. You are responsible for reviewing and deciding whether to accept any output. TidyWrite is an assistant, not a substitute for professional judgment.

8. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties (AI provider, payment processor, hosting, and error-monitoring services). Their availability and terms are outside our control, and interruptions may affect the service.

9. Intellectual property and open-source components

TidyWrite and its branding are owned by its provider (see the header above). The service includes third-party open-source software, including the Harper spelling/grammar engine (harper.js and harper-core), which is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 (license verified against the distributed packages on July 2, 2026). Your rights in those components are governed by their respective licenses. Apache-2.0 is permissive (no copyleft or relink obligation); it requires only attribution/notice, which the distributed apps carry. See legal/harper-lgpl-compliance.md for the notice checklist.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TidyWrite will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence, and liability for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we must terminate for legal or security reasons. You may stop using the service at any time by cancelling and closing your account.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and disputes are subject to the courts of the provider's domicile in Brazil, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections — including jurisdiction rules — in your country of residence.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
